Money IQ is a personal-finance coaching app. It reads your financial data to give you tailored advice — and nothing more. Money IQ never moves your money, never sells your data, and shows no ads. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how to delete it.

What we collect

• Bank & transaction data (read-only, via Plaid). If you choose to link a bank account, we use Plaid to import your accounts and transaction history in read-only form — institution, balances, and spending. We use this to compute your cash flow and money leaks, to ground the coach's advice in your real numbers, and to generate your spending alerts — see “AI processing” below for what is sent to our AI providers and when. We cannot and do not initiate payments or move funds. Bank login credentials are handled by Plaid and are never seen or stored by Money IQ.
• Your profile. The job, income, skills, and goals you tell the coach (typed in chat or during setup) are stored so it can give station-appropriate advice next time.
• Your chat messages and the coach's replies. Sent to our server to generate a response and stored so your conversation is there when you return.
• Your account email and an account identifier. Used to sign you in and to link your data to you. You can also sign in with Apple.
• Subscription status. Whether you have an active Pro subscription.
• Basic in-app analytics. Which screens and actions are used, to improve the app. This is never used to track you across other apps or websites.

All of the above is linked to your account and used only to run and improve Money IQ. We do not collect health, fitness, photo, contacts, or location data.

What stays on your device

Face ID / Touch ID is used only as an on-device lock for the app; the biometric data itself never leaves your phone and is never sent to us.

AI processing

We use two third-party AI providers, and only these two: Google LLC (Gemini models) and Groq, Inc., used only as a fallback when Gemini is unavailable. Your data is sent to them in two situations:

• Coaching replies (chat). Your message text, recent chat history, and a summary of your profile and cash flow (balances, income, spending by merchant and category, goals, spending limits, net worth) are sent to the model to produce an answer.
• Spending alerts (after you link a bank). When new transactions arrive from your bank, the transaction (merchant, amount, category), a rolling 90-day summary of your spending by category, your active goals and spending limits, and your profile (job, station, monthly income, net-worth goal) are sent to the model so it can judge whether a purchase is worth alerting you about. This happens automatically as new transactions arrive, without you opening the app.

The app asks for your permission, naming both providers and both of the uses above, before your first coach message and before you link a bank. If you do not agree, the app sends nothing to either provider. Both providers process your data solely to return that reply or alert, under data-protection terms that provide protection equal to this policy, and neither receives your bank login credentials. Replies and alerts are AI-generated for guidance and are not professional financial, legal, or tax advice.

Who we share with

We share data only with the service providers that make the app work: Plaid (bank connectivity), Supabase (secure database and authentication), Google (the Gemini model that generates coaching), Groq (backup AI provider used only when Gemini is unavailable), and Resend (delivers the product emails we send you — it receives your email address and the contents of that email, which can include your first name and a summary of your recent spending and goals). Each provider processes your data solely to deliver its service to us, under data-protection terms that provide protection equal to this policy. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.

Deleting your data

In the app, open Settings (gear icon) → Delete account to permanently remove your profile, chats, goals, and any linked-bank data from our servers. This also revokes our access to your linked bank. Uninstalling the app stops all data collection.

Data retention & security

Your data is retained until you delete your account. It is stored with per-user access controls so only you can read your own records, encrypted in transit and at rest. Bank access tokens are held server-side only and never exposed to the app.

Children

Money IQ is not directed to children under 13.
